ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Finnean van den Boorn, a 24 year old computer science engineer based in the Netherlands. I spent most of my youth tinkering with electronics and computers, which sparked my passion for technology and software development. I completed my Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Eindhoven with a graduation project on inter process communication protocols in real time systems at Philips. Afterwards I decided to further develop my skills by doing a Masters in Computer Science at the University of Eindhoven and Mälardalens Universitet in Sweden. During my studies I have gained experience in various programming languages and technologies, including Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, React, Node.js, SQL and Git. I have also worked on several projects, both individually and as part of a team, which have helped me develop my problem-solving and communication skills. In my free time, I enjoy learning about new technologies, and do not shy away from the occasional project. From webdevelopment to engineering speaker systems, I love to learn and create.
My Projects
Tract3D
A medical imaging tool used to visualize brain matter tracts from MRI scans. It was built completely from scratch using OpenGL and ImGUI.
Tabula Rasa
A web application that serves and functions to visualize datasets, such that information can be extracted more easily and in a more refined way.
Guess the Anime
A web application that allows users to guess anime characters based on images and sound. Made with React, Node.js using JavaScript.
Arcade Machine
Built an arcade machine, both the hardware and software. The software was based on the modified MAME emulator and customized using XML.
Boorn & Riswick Speakers
The ground up design and engineering of a passive tower speaker system, including the cabinet, crossover and drivers.
E-Commerce Platform
An e-commerce web application using a self-hosted Medusa backend and NextJS frontend using React and Typescript.

Currently enrolled in the Master Computer Science and Engineering program at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). The program focuses on advanced topics in computer science, mostly focusing on algorithms but also medical imaging, software engineering and internet of things.

This is an exchange period at Mälardalens Universitet in Sweden. I studied subjects ranging from information design, where I learned to design and implement effective information systems, to cloud computing, where I learned to work in linux with Docker.

Software Graduation Project @Philips

This project consisted of engineering a scalable tool for the comparison of Inter Process Communication (IPC) protocols. I worked as part of a group developing the architecture and the tool itself for industrial application by Philips Healthcare.
